Film Society of India (FSI, – Regd. Under the Trade Union Act 1926, represents and safeguard rights of Film Professionals, Writers , Directors & all Film Technicians working in Association with Film Bandhu, UP .
FSI provides platform to new and upcoming talent coming into the industry who aspire to join mediums of Films, TV, or Digital Entertainment, to interact and work with professionals by becoming Film Society of India (FSI) is an autonomous organization having the following aims and objectives:
- To regulate the relationship of its members with Producers and other organizations guiding all Film Professionals in their work with legal registration, copyright and Minimum Basic Contracts for film and TV and new media (digital).
- To secure and safeguard the interests, rights, compensation, and privileges of its members in all matters relating to their professional engagement and working conditions. (However, the Film Society of India is not responsible for securing employment or contracts/assignments for its members.)
- To promote and encourage high standards of professional conduct and integrity amongst its members.
- To also provide appropriate learning opportunities to members to upgrade their skills, by organizing seminars and workshops for Film Professionals at subsidized cost.
Ancillary Functions of the FSI
- The Film Society of India also registers, through its office & website – the scripts, lyrics, stories written by its members. This service safeguards the Copyright of a FSI member.
- Also registers with recognized membership card that help them professionally work across India.
FSI Constitution
FSI’s Executive Committee functions as per the guidelines and authority accorded to it in the Constitution of FSI. The overseeing General Body, comprising of Full Members and Associate Members of the Association also adheres to the Constitution of FSI.

FSI Membership
Membership of the Film Society of India is meant for Film Professionals (including Writers, Directors, Cinematographers, Assistant Cinematographer and Assistant Directors working for films, TV, audio formats, digital media, or any new media), who reside within the boundary of the Union of India and
BECOMING FSI MEMBER
One can become an FSI member by submitting the duly filled FSI Membership Form along with the required documents and the applicable fees at FSI Office, or by sending the same through post. FSI Membership is approved only upon the verification of all the mentioned documents.

FSI MEMBERSHIP TYPES
1 – PROFESSIONAL MEMBER
The following can become a Regular Member of the FSI:
- Any person whose work has been certified by CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) as a feature film (or on digital media), and who has the writing credit (Story/Screenplay/Dialogue Cinematography/Direction/Producer) for the same.
- Any person whose TV serial/show has been broadcast, and who has credit (Created/Story/Screenplay/Dialogue/ Cinematography/Direction/Producer) for the same.
- A lyricist/singer/composer whose song has appeared in a film, TV serial a music album.
2 – ASSOCIATE MEMBER
The following can become a Regular Member of the FSI:
- If applicant has already been employed in the film project with copy of the signed contract, and the proof of payment of signing amount credited in applicant’s account.
- UG/ PG Degree in Mass Communication or Diploma/Certificate of a Program/Course in Film (or related to Film Production/Screenwriting) (of minimum 1 year duration) from a recognized institute.
3 – REGULAR MEMBER
The following can become an Associate Member of the FSI:
- Any person who has a passion for working in the Industry as a Writer or a Film Professional is eligible for associate membership
- Associate member writers will be allowed to register their work at FSI. However, they will not be able to attend FSI AGMs or vote or stand for FSI elections. The person can attend FSI events like seminars, conferences, workshops, etc. that are open to all members.
The duration of Fellow membership will be three years, within which period the person will either get himself/herself upgraded to Professional category, or else their Associate membership will lapse. In which case, he/she will have to apply again afresh for membership.
